The White Room is a non-medical sober living residence in Khao Tao, Hua Hin. We offer structure, community and recovery skills to adults who are already in recovery. We are not a hospital, a detox centre or a rehab clinic.

A sober living residence, not a treatment centre
Sober living is a step after treatment. It is a safe, structured place to keep building the habits and skills that support a life in recovery.
What The White Room is
- A sober living residence with six private bungalows in Khao Tao, Hua Hin, Thailand.
- A steady daily routine in a small, supportive community, starting at 6 am.
- Skills-based support: CBT and DBT skills, group therapy, psychoeducation, one-to-one counselling and life-skills training.
- For adults with at least two months in recovery who want to keep growing.
- Led by founder Fred Atkinson, an internationally qualified addiction counsellor.
What we are not
- Not a hospital or medical clinic. We do not provide medical care.
- No detox and no medically supervised withdrawal.
- We do not diagnose illness or prescribe medication.
- Not a substitute for primary addiction treatment (rehab).
- Not an emergency, crisis or psychiatric service.
Who should seek licensed treatment first?
Sober living works best once the body and mind are stable. Please look for licensed medical or residential treatment before coming to us if any of these apply to you.
- You have less than two months in recovery.
- You may need detox or medically supervised withdrawal. Stopping alcohol, benzodiazepines or opioids suddenly can be dangerous.
- You have thoughts of suicide or self-harm, or you have recently been in a mental health crisis.
- You have a physical or mental health condition that needs regular medical or psychiatric supervision.
- You need medication to be prescribed, adjusted or closely monitored.
